Google Voice is free, sure, and like I said, it’s been a personal help when I had an issue that rendered my phone unusable. However, there’s a difference between accepting an app that does a pretty good job and pushing a company to make a better product that will ultimately benefit you more. Consumers do that all the time with feedback, and most software-makers listen. It’s to everyone’s advantage.

That’s why I suggested that Google should introduce tiered services, so that those who want to stick with the free service can do so, and those who want to upgrade to higher quality can also go that route. More choices are better in my book.

Just looked at my usage since trying out Google Voice. I had added my GV# to my myfaves since I couldn't find what number to actually add. Well I know now. FYI...if you have t-mobile or Alltel/Verizon then you should add the following numbers to your myfaves/my circle...347-234-5001 (this is the number that your call is routed through) and 650-265-1193 (that is the number that google uses to call you when you change your voicemail message.)

Hi James,
Quick question about google voice. There is no way for mobile to mobile to work using it right? I have t-mobile and my family has t-mobile so any calls I make to them now are unlimited, but if I use google voice would I need to add the google voice number to my myfaves or their individual numbers to my myfaves to keep it unlimited?

Thanks very much James. I appreciate the feedback.

I have to decide how to replace my AT&T CallVantage (something of a gold standard for consumer VoIP) when it ends this year.

Hi James,

I was wondering how good the voice quality is with Google Voice. For example, I was reading that if a call goes from a Google Voice number and is transmitted to a VoIP "landline" phone, the quality can be worse than if the call was made directly to the VoIP number.

My favorite feature in the Android app: While voicemail is playing it highlights the current word in the transcript, and you can rewind/fast-forward to a specific word just by touching it. Now that's visual voicemail!

"About the only thing I can think of that could instantly make GV better would be native smartphone versions"

I can think of one other and that would be to see GV in the UK!
