@Hoot: Given that MID category includes things like the iPhone...it is untrue that UMPCs will outsell MIDs.

I find UMPC form factor odd as often crippled keyboard is included and this is not the route to take. I would prefer a HTC Advantage style detachable keyboard perhaps...full size.

Yawn. I think Apple figured that out. Which is why the iPhone and even iPods look nothing like the desktop UI.

MIDs will sell in fewer numbers than UMPCs. The combined sales of new smartphones such as the iPhone 3G and the Blackberry Bold and new ULCPCs such as the eee PC 900 and Dell's new entry will completely overshadow MIDs.

..that's where GNU/Linux comes in...which OS can be tailored better? gimme gimme some...ubuntu mobile or whatever and these small devices will be great. how difficult is it to understand i ask myself. even apple used OSX for the iphone, but it's not the full desktop/notebook OS...we don't need mr. morris' comment to understand, don't we
