this is great. I'll have to go try this out now. I'm less concerned with it for home use - where the internet is pretty stable - but for my laptop it will be nice to at least be able to compose email and read old emails even when there is no connection.

Wow, this has been a very long time coming, but better late than never. No attachments in offline compose mode. That severely limits its usefulness to me. No contact management in offline mode. Those two must be remedied. On the plus side, Gmail is much faster and more responsive with Gears enabled. My main question at this point is, if you clear the cache in Firefox, will this clear your downloaded Gmail as well?

FINALLY. If this turns into anything significant, I'm ditching Outlook forever. I just wish they'd roll it out a little faster...

The attachments piece is crucial too, even just a basic HTML view is enough for me. I hope this goes somewhere! Though a question- do the labs features (tasks, etc.) come offline with Gmail, or just the email?

Don't forget that Gmail also warned that things that are dependable of online will not work - like spell checker - so watch what you write.
I still don't have it in my email but I want to test how the pdf files will work because they now depend on Google viewer

Love this blog, keep it up please
