GetMobio now on Windows Mobile
We’ve chatted up GetMobio in the past; just this summer, the informational service showed up for RIM BlackBerrys, so now it’s time for Windows Mobile handsets to catch up. Good timing too, since WinMo owners can hop over to http://getmobio.com/nowwm for over fifty info-applets. You can check out local gas prices, find restaurants and even use Twitter with the free service. One question I have: with the mobile web search platforms getting better and better (think Google and Windows Live Mobile), is there still a need for custom info applications or can we just search the cloud directly? I know I’m using mobile-tailored sites directly much more often; how about you?

I use both a blackberry and a WinMo smartphone and I think all these new applications are great and all, but I really don’t like downloading apps to either phone. I’d rather use a mobile web search platform. They are getting better and I know there are some out there that only display mobile friendly sites. (google and windows live still give search results that show traditional website links….SUX!)
I notice a difference in speed on my WinMo phone each time I add a new application. It’s just like my home computer…the more stuff I download, the slower it gets. DOWN with apps if you can get the same info via the mobile search platforms!
I have Touch-Commander.com on my Pocket-PC to enable finger touch scrolling, browsing, and the spinning of a three dimensional interface that is found on the Apple iPhone and the TouchPhone by HTC.
Touch-Commander.com gives me “one touch and slide” access to phone calls, emails, SMS messages, calendar functions, pictures, music, videos and other applications and commonly used content.
