Fujitsu UMPC video looks nice
Since the moment I first heard about the new convertible UMPC that Fujitsu has been showing off I was intrigued to say the least. My Fujitsu P1610 is my workhorse bread and butter mobile computer and this UMPC looks like Miyagi’s little brother. Maybe Fujitsu will call it the P805.
UMPC aficionado jkkmobile has posted this short video of the Fujitsu mini-convertible. It’s hard to tell what OS is running on it but it sure looks cool. I’m not sure how easy this UMPC will be to use, though, hung up on a wall like that.

intel is saying it runs vista…
Noted the Yahoo logo on the shorted video?
More information on the Fujitsu there: http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=820
“* Intel Sealey processor
* 1GB memory
* 40GB hard disk
* SD reader
* 2 cameras
* 5.6-inch (1024 x 600) display
* Equipped with two core battery and optional four core battery that can last 7 hours.”
Looks more like xp, I mean it has the touchpak program launcher (predecessor to OrigamiExperience if you will) running on the desktop. But I do wonder what the hell that Yahoo logo is doing in the top left corner of the screen. Maybe an all-connected sort of thing like they wanted to push with the T-swivel device.

The best UMPC design to date in my opinion, looks like a must have device (hopefully the Fujitsu pricing guys aren’t reading this).
Hopefully it will find its way into Europe sometime this century – Fujitsu don’t move fast in the UK, the p1610 took ages to come here, or thats what it felt like
Is this the same size or larger than the Flipstart?
Mike, looks to be a little larger but thinner.
someone on handtops.com used the video to estimate the size – its 6.6″L x 5″W with a 5.5 inch screen he estimated. Given he was only out by 0.1 on the screen size , I think we can trust the other dimensions.
Looks pretty slick – I just worry about such a high resolution on a small screen, as well as the usability of the keyboard…its it a thumb, or type keyboard? At the moment, I’d rather see all those stats on something with a bigger screen…have I just described the P1610? Amazing to see where the tech is going :)
This might be the best competitor the OQO has right now.
