I saw Notepad 2008 so I installed it and had a play around with it. Looks good except for the useless RC1 tab. Lots of people use MSInfo to do there nfo’s with, in basic notepad right click and open with notepad to see the info. With this 2008 modded notepad it does not recognize or open the text in MSInfo nfo’s. This also applys to Wordpad 2009 modified by the same person. Final words looks good but doesn’t function the way I need a notepad to operate. 7 for looks 5 for functionality.

I am using PSPad, based on Notepad. Simple to use.
I can’t compare with Notepad, never tried it.

Another +1 for notepad++ !

Seriously, between it and darkroom (or writeroom if you’re on an OSX computer) all my basic text needs are handled.

This looks quite neat though and i’ll give it a run for sure.

It’s a tossup for me between Notepad++ and Notepad2. The latter is very quick to load while providing some pretty nice text editing features.

For quick & simple text hacking, ClipMate from Thornsoft works perfect. It’s the first thing I install on a new machine.

Notepad++ is my choice. It has line numbering, tabbed interface, and most importantly code syntax formatting for various different languages.

I find Notepad++ to be the best text editor. It doesn’t do fancy fonts, but it is very powerful with folding and tabs, and free.

My all time favorite text editor is Interspector (which I bought a few years back), but the company seems to have disappeared. Also, Notepad++ as some better implemented functions.
