Free Digital Day-To-Day Ubuntu Companion Guide Available

I’ve been playing a bit with the Moblin for Netbooks alpha build on my MSI Wind today. It’s not bad, but after two hours of nosing around, I can’t see what it currently or will offer that Ubuntu doesn’t offer today. [Note: feel free to insert your favorite Linux distro in place of Ubuntu in the prior sentence.] There’s a nice use of small-screen real estate with configurable dock-like panels on all four sides of the screens, but that alone isn’t a huge step forward.

I’ll dig a little deeper and nose around some more, but since the Ubuntu thought immediately popped into my head, this timely tidbit is worth sharing. Ostatic tells me that you can grab a free digital copy of the “Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference” from MacFreda Publishing. It’s a PDF document and looks like a great guide for Ubuntu. As the sub-title says, this is “A concise companion for day-to-day Ubuntu use”. If you prefer the print edition, you can find it just shy of $10 on Amazon. My first impressions after a quick browse: if you have any interest in Ubuntu but don’t know where to start, this digital edition is a great place to begin.
