bluemonq, Banshee is most likely there by default, which has support for all ipods, mtp devices, etc.

Of course, you could also install Amarok (my personal preference) for a more iTunes all-in-one type solution.

It’s pretty slick. The 1000 does already have a lot of stuff preloaded such as OpenOffice.
