Eric Rice says Vista on the Tablet PC rocks!
Eric Rice is the long-time Mac aficionado who picked up a Toshiba Tablet PC last year and just couldn’t put it down. Now he has put Vista beta 2 on the Tablet and is using words like "drool", "love", "killer", well you get the picture. Here’s a brief quote from his musings:
The user experience is killer– I can select multiple items, since hovering over desktop icons allows me to click a checkbox, making it easy to copy/move/delete multiple items. There’s a very subtle touch feedback on the screen when i’ve clicked on something (reminds me of Apple’s water droplets). And whatever changed with handwriting recognition (for the better) simply rocks. I have handwriting so bad, I’m a certified medical doctor,
and have had little errors in scrawling messages quickly in an environment like Skype. Right-clicking and holding has improved as well…
One final note that has nothing to do with UI or architecture… it seems to me that Microsoft did spend a good deal of time listening to users–not just the mom and dads of the world, but also to us tech-types. Now, let’s see if they can keep it up.

Is there still anywhere where the Vista Beta can be downloaded? The Microsoft site indicates it is no longer available for download. I’d like to put this on my UX50 with 60 GB hard drive.
Nope, it’s closed now as it was a limited beta.
