Question…Has anyone heard of problems with the eeebuntu site? I went to download and install, and couldn’t get their website to load. Are there any mirrors or torrents of the new version available?

Heard the news, and DID IT. It worked on my 701, and I am very pleased. After reboot, it picked up wifi signals, and logins were no problem. This is a very good thing, as original Xandros software had stopped working at some public places, like a neighborhood coffee shop. The shop had upgraded encryptation protocols, and I was locked out. I will be interested to hear if other readers have tried eeePC/Ubuntu on other machines. Cheers.

Anybody tried this eee version on another device? (samsung q1u,..)?

The web site says: ‘We need your feedback to help us get eeebuntu into a useful and usable state.’

That suggests to me that it’s not there yet.

I get on pretty well with the Xandros Advanced desktop. However, the erratic wi-fi connection on my 701 is driving me crazy.

You have more to lose than 90 seconds, if you choose to install that is. You will lose your default restore partition and will be forced to restore from the included DVD. Not a huge deal, but will take longer than 1.5 mins.
