Edouard makes landfall
Tropical Storm Edouard has just made landfall north of Galveston and we’re getting ready for some heavy rains moving rapidly into the area along with 50 mph winds. The storm did not make hurricane strength overnight which was a concern and we are very happy about that. We’re keeping our eyes peeled as the storm approaches inland locations and hope this is a mild one. Big boo to my wife’s employer as they told everyone they’d better come in to work today as the storm is "just a little rain". Hope she makes it home all right.

It’s pretty calm here in Pearland (South of Houston.) A nice steady lawn watering drizzle. My company closed all our Houston based offices, so I get a little quality time catching up on my feeds, and playing video games with my son whenever he wakes up.
Enjoy the day, Rick. :)
BTW, it means nothing to us when you TV stations put your reporters out in the rain to show how wet they get. Really, really stupid.
LOL…means something to me. Means one less moron on the tv. Wasn’t Willard enough?
That little jog to the north and faster forward movement may have made your wife’s employer look really smart. But, if it hadn’t jogged and slowed instead overnight, they would’ve been asking their employees to drive to work just as a Cat 1 was making landfall. Not a position I’d want to put my employees on the road in.
Glad things are looking up. You’re stealing the limelight over the last couple of days. We had winds well in excess of 80MPH in Chicago-land off and on all day yesterday and last night, and perhaps again today (not sure how things are looking as I finally managed to get on a plane 26hrs later than planned).
Love it!
