Ed Bott- his favorite Vista tweaks
Every operating system has niggling things that make some users want to tweak them to work more to their liking and Vista is no exception. Windows expert Ed Bott thinks so too and has posted his favorite tweaks to make Vista work the way he likes best. Ed has provided very simple tweaks that improve the way he works and these often are just configuration changes to make things work just a little better. I especially like his task bar and desktop tweaks. Have a look and see if you find something that appeals to you.

- A virtual desktop: Virtual dimension (the best from many years).

QTTABBAR
On this pic, you see my Virtual Desktop Bar with 5 desks. I choose the bar look easiest to include on the desk than a widest panel. Each app is movable from desk to desk. Each of these desks has its own wallpaper.You can have a look on the app icon for a bubble text of the file in use, or (on screen capture)the list of apps available. CLick on the icon apps to go on…
You see the Explorer with th QTTabbar plugin. So you can open many folders and make files copy from one to others by Drag’n drop. For specifics Jobs, open folders can be save with a shorcut and recal by Star icon on the Toolbar. Near it you have a Windows icon for Programs (with categories) or files shortcut you wish to organize for quick access… And,nice for finger click, on a Tablet PC, i recovered Copy, Paste and others similars icons (like in XP)… It’s a QTTabar plugin !

CLCL
On this second screen, you see the windows of the CLCL capture tool with thumbnails of pics captured and pieces of text. Each capture action is memorized here and a shortcut – Alt+V for me – recall this windows and you choose what you want to drop in any app (Word,Photoshop,Live Writer…). My setting is for 30 items to be shown. The light yellow space show you the whole text when you move the mouse on a text item. More : you can make a “many files” selection in a folder which is memorized like a single group to copy… Look at the Template icon ! Here you can store your favorites expressions and photos or logos. It’a DAT file (backup option). This app is a really must-have for journalists, writers, teachers, students…
For Vista only, select to put CLCL folder outside Program Files. It fails to install inside…
