Dragonfly Folding Notebook- No Compromises to Go
It’s not really a netbook, nor a notebook in the normal sense, but in capability it looks like it could be a viable ultra-portable format. We’re talking about the Dragonfly concept folding notebook that Liliputing ran across recently. The Dragonfly is a clever design that solves the problem confronting designers trying to put a full keyboard on the most portable form possible.
The Dragonfly has a hinge right down the middle of the entire device that makes for a pocketable computer when closed yet a full notebook when open. It solves the problem by breaking the keyboard into two halves that open up and two small screens in the normal place you expect them. It’s just a concept so far, but I can see this thing being pretty darn useful. Check out the video of the Dragonfly to see how it opens and closes.

Sort of reminds me of the joke about thinking women have staples in their belly buttons based on seeing them in Playboy centerfolds…
this is so coool! you should let us know if this baby becomes real for us. and for how much. this is even better than a netbook when it comes to portability.
(raising hand spastically) OOOOOH OOOOOH OOOOOH Pick me! Pick me! Agree with Neolex — they need to hurry up!
Start selling them! I want to buy two right now!
As long as it will fit in my inside coat pocket I do not think price is much of an issue to prevent millions from buying one. If it runs full Windows with decent memory, battery life, and have enough USB and ways to plug accessores, memory, etc. then it will easily replace a laptop for millions of mobile business users.
This is the first UMPC or MID type computer I have seen that would be worth a purchase. All of the others are poor thumb input or pen input computers that are pretty useless for real business Windows work. I hope it becomes a real product that I could buy. I would buy it anywhere from $500 to $1500 depending on the battery life and power. To me price is not a big factor if it really can fit in my suit pocket which it should.
I want to boy one now! I am sick and tired of carrying a laptop and hate all of the UMPC’s, MIDS, etc. as they are just not useful without a keyboard. Why has it taken so long for people to realize there is a huge market for a basic laptop in your pocket? What it takes a MIT grad decades after the popularity of the laptop to realize a pocket version with the same functionality would sell?
