Does a 240 GB iPod Float Your Boat?
That old axiom about how much storage space you will use is true. That’s the one that says however much space you have on a device that’s how much you will use. You audio lovers may have to sit down before checking this out. How does an iPod with 240 GB of storage sound to you? Sweet music in your ears I’ll bet, 240 GB worth of it to be exact.
It will set you back a cool $300 but if you have an iPod Video (Gen. 1 or 2 only) you can get a 240 GB hard drive for it from the folks at Rapid Repair. That’s enough to store 10,000 20,000 a whole lot of songs.

How about you buy Toshiba’s 1.8″ 240 GB PATA drive and do the upgrade yourself? Jeesh… Only $190.
Hi: where can you buy this drive from Toshiba at that price? Thanks…
Wow… I didn’t realize the 1.8 inch drives had reached those capacities. That makes the 100 GB in my 2710p seem rather tiny. I’d have to look up the specs on my drive, but I suspect the taller height of these higher capacity drives would not permit their installation in my tablet.
Big Deal – last year I put a 500GB drive in my HP 2133 and created a portable 8.9 inch 720p movie player, with another 500GB drive in tow.
Gigabytes to music doesn’t matter anymore, since it’s practically impossible to even determine how many songs will fit on a 240GB+ storage device. For video, yes, that kind of storage space will come in handy. But I think in a few years even that won’t be an issue – 2.5″ drives will eventually reach the 2TB size, enough for 200 hours of 1080p content.
Frankly No!
A 64GB iPod Touch would be nice though :)
I’d like a bigger Touch too…
Anybody know if the MK2431GAH drive will work as an upgrade for the Samsung Q1UP-XP? An ebay seller for the drive is telling me that some PC owners have problems with the drive’s 4096 byte sector size. That’s greek to me. Can anyone clarify for me?
By the way, the cheapest prices I’ve found are here:
