Interesting. I didn't know. Every time they've upgraded the pocket PC Windows operating system, I've stood in the stores trying to see if I could get the same level of detail as I routinely use for word processing on my Palm-PC combination, and never got it. It made no sense to me that the writers of Word and Pocket Word would be unable to make them completely compatible. I'm glad to hear there are work-alikes available. That opens possibilities, but only when my current Palm dies, as I've just invested a minor fortune in a tablet PC.

Palm does indeed handle Word documents better but does so through third party programs. There are third party programs for the Pocket PC that not only do the same thing but also offer complete word processing and spreadsheet capabilities (TextMaker and PlanMaker). These two programs are full Word and Excel "clones" in both form and function.

So far, Palm handles my needs a bit better than pocket PC. Oddly, Palm software does better in preserving and introducing Word document formatting than ppc. Weird, huh?
