Conversation threads SMS on Nokia handsets
Nokia has an updated SMS application to provide a threaded, conversational approach. The new beta app is aptly named "Conversations" and it’s available as a free download for E- and N-series devices running S60 3rd edition. Matt Miller gave it a shot since he’s used to this type of interface on his AT&T T-Mobile iPhone; Matt says it needs some work, but that’s the reason it’s out in a public beta. Nokia’s waiting on your feedback, so go have some conversations!

Funny, they are definitely getting their inspiration from the SMS application on the iPhone… Another sign that Apple got the SMS application user-interface when such big name like Nokia are copying a similar interface.

Probably also worth pointing out that Palm did similar “threaded” and “IM-like” SMS (I think for the first time?) on their Treo750 Win Mobile phone, which I used for a little while earlier this year. In fact Palm put a few significant enhancements on top of Win Mobile 5 at the time. Video here:

Threaded SMS apps have been out for years, not an iPhone innovation.
First to do it was a Palm Treo 600 I believe, or the 650, not sure.
Definitely a Palm first thing.
Yeah it was definitely with Palm though I aint sure which model was the first. But good to see that other manufacturers are picking up on this.
@Steve – its been on the Blackberry for quite a while. Long before the iPhone was thought off (to hazard a guess)
