Coffee break- mobile blogging extreme style
What is a mobile guy to do but try to get as mobile as humanly possible? That´s what I am doing right now sitting in a very nice coffee shop. I´m using the smallest device I’ve ever used for blogging and I have to tell you ít is working pretty well so far. I have the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet coupled with an iGo Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard and it is a mean blogging machine. No extra weight, no fluff, just a web browser and a keyboard that turns me into a mobile blogging machine. I use the stylus with the touchscreen for mousing and the browser-based blog editor and I am a writing fool. OK, I´m always a writing fool but at least I´m fleet on my feet. :) Next to try adding a Bluetooth mouse to the mix.
Note: photos taken with the Nokia N95 phone with 5 MP camera.

Boy, you and Kevin spend ALOT of time, in coffee shops. Maybe a future investment. ;)
We’re out there testing mobile tech so you don’t have to. I would recommend investing in coffeeshops, Kevin and I have your back.
Yes, the Nokia N800 with a BT keyboard is a sweet mobile blogging setup! The little unit has a suprisingly usable screen for it’s size. Good luck getting a BT mouse to work with it. I haven’t been successful with that and I do not think anyone has. Supposedly, currently, it does not have any BT mouse support built in.
Is the Nokia N800 fast at rendering web pages. Also, does it display flash web sites. I think alot of people use the web and there are some cool devives coming out that takes advantage of web based applications. Asus eee mini laptop (with linux and windows xp) Palm foleo and others. I wanted to pick up a Palm tx, but it seemed that it was slow rendering web pages. Pocket Blogging!! Maybe the next step in technology
I think the N800 handles the web better than most small small devices in it’s price range that are out right now. It renders sites pretty quickly and the fullscreen and zoom options for the browser work very well. It uses Opera 8 as it’s web browser. There is some Shockwave Flash support, Flash 7, in the N800. Though you will not find that it works that well on videos from sites like YouTube. It also supports secure SSL sites. It handles the web better than my Dell Axim X50V PPC, and my Sprint 6700PPC.
Kevin,
you need some alternative caffeine resources. Check out my blog – online and brick-and-morter sources of tasty caffeinated candies…. no need to lurk in Starbucks any more…..
BlueMingo.
Hey, JK, be careful when you go home. I think your wife is on the warpath. Something about Shakira and Christmas.
C’mon iGo incorporate a TrackPoint Think Pad style mouse into your stowaway keyboards – why have to lug around a BT mouse as well?
Nope, no mouse on the iGo keyboard.
I want a UMPC and am trying to sell my N800. I’ve got a thread up on anandtech, but not getting any bites. If you’re interested send me an email. “mrtungstent5_AT_gmail.com”
