Coffee Break – the Little Wonder at Work
I am feeling very sad and out of sorts today, so I decided to head out for some good java and to get some work done. To keep things easy I just brought this with me, and it’s working great, XP and all (if the iPhone 3G could shoot video I could have shown you how well):

You really need to Jailbreak your iPhone :)

Hmmm, using a Starbux cup as a mouse. What a novel idea….
8-)
Nope, that’s a “Daily Brew” cup, my favorite local independent coffee shop. :)
viliv S5 ? aaarggghh if you have fed up with it, dont hesitate to send me it
thanks
If it only had a front facing camera…
JK – sorry you are feeling blue. when i pre-ordered my viliv this week, i also ordered the same blue tooth keyboard in your picture. i already have the smaller igo model, but it’s finicky and the Sierra seems a better fit. what’s your experience: do you like it and where can i read more about it since it’s coming soon? steve
I’ve used the Sierra myself for over a year, and I find it a delight to work with ! You should also know that these are extremely hard to find (I believe manufacturer discontinued), so if you can get your hands on a Sierra keyboard – and I also recommend the Stowaway BT mouse – I say go for it…
It’s a little heavier than previous models, primarily because of the AAA battery used to power it and the metal casing, but the convenience is absolutely incredible. It feels like a good, solid, professional device.
As an added benefit, JK pointed out in an earlier post that the Sierra keyboard has a small detachable stand on the back, which will work perfectly with a device as small as the S5. I believe that is what he is using in this photo.
For more info on it, simply google “review Sierra keyboard”
That stand is indeed what I use. I have used the newer (yet still discontinued) model but this one is much more stable and a “real” keyboard.
As much as I’d like that little guy for my in-house surfing activities, for trips to the coffee shop I’d take a small laptop over all these bits of stuff.
Me too but I was running errands and stopped on impulse. I’m glad I had it with me.
Hi James,
I’m waiting on my unit and noticed the talk about the different BT keyboards. I’m a little confused on which one you use and/or prefer. Is the roughly $100 price worth it? Which one do you rec? Lastly, do you have an Apple Wireless Keyboard (the small one) to test to see if it works with the S5? Thanks, and sorry for all the Qs. :)
I use the Stowaway Sierra BT keyboard and really like it. I do have an Apple Wireless KB but have not tried it. It will work fine though, it works with anything BT.
reminds me of images shot of the nokia tables over the years. now where is that cortex based model?
I was going to say the same thing! Reminds me of when I was carrying my N800 or N810, and I’d go to meetings and take notes. Though, these days I’m carrying a Samsung Q1 Ultra (running Ubuntu), so it’s a bit bigger… I only carry one pocketable, and that’s my G1.
But, yeah, the best MID, if you want to carry two pocketables (phone + MID), is the Nokia Internet Tablet. Solid mature OS, optimized for the screen size, good application ecosystem, and works with bluetooth keyboards and the like.
Unlike an iPhone/iPod Touch — you don’t have to jailbreak it in order to fully utilize it.
Unlike a Windows based MID — you’re not using a desktop GUI on a tiny screen. You can run desktop apps if you want, but there are plenty of MID optimized apps for you as well.
Sounds like too much fiddling whereas with a netbook you would just open it up and start working. Is the S5 better for carrying around, ie is it pocketable with all that paraphernalia?
