Steve, browsing with Opera is very nice, fast over WiFi and renders pretty fast. Google Reader is especially nice because with the VueFLO tilt control I can autoscroll down the feeds and have them marked as read automatically.

Also-
the better comparison would be to the upcoming Kaiser…errr… TYTN 2- since both have gps, upgraded rom and ram etc.
If you get it through Cingular… I mean ATT.. as the 8925 when it finally comes out it will be in the $400-500 range– and that is with a two year contract. Unlocked it isn’t going to be that much less than Amazon’s price for the X7501.

Isn’t it interesting how labels and categories make it so easy to quickly embrace or dismiss something.

Instant-on and fast GUI’s give the user such a nice feeling don’t they.

How are you finding VGA browsing? Hitting any walls on the rendering speed or speed support?

I seriously doubt that $299 is an apples to apples price comparison. With no discounts, no subsidy, no rebates, no nothing, you’re paying $600 for a new Mogul which is much slower and cramped for ram in comparison. Given the specs, $900 doesn’t sound all that unreasonable in a real price comparison. It’s cheaper than a high-end CE toy I bought a few years that did far, FAR less.

This is NOT a UMPC. Get that strait!

I could buy the Mogul by HTC which does all of the same thing, and fits in your pocket for $299.

YOU got to be kidding me if you are going to pay $900 for a Windows Mobile Device, in which you can’t really take good notes on. Sure if it was a true UMPC and had Vista as well, I could see $900, but let’s be real here. It’s a PDA!!!

What more does it do then the Mogul? Or tell me why it’s worth $900????

Do you think there is any chance that SOMEONE (if not HTC) would make a simlilar unit WITHOUT the phone features?

I like a phone as a phone, and my “Internet” fix as a separate unit.

$399 to $499?!? You have got to be kidding me! Look at all the phones out there that are in this price range. The advantage beats them in the specs, usually by a MILE. There’s a reason why it costs more. IT DOES MORE! This is a UMPC/Phone hybrid!

This device sounds fun! However, I just wish they would have come it with a price of $399, or at most $499. It is a WM machine after all. $899 just way too high.
