Get real Kevin. The plastic has a large hole so that it can be placed over most, if not all plugs, and therefore well away from the prongs. You might as well not get out of bed in the morning worrying about little things like that. I’ll guarantee if you look under the desks of the likes of JKOTR that you’ll see dozens of plugs all connected via the one wall socket. What’s the bigger fire hazard?

Ouch – that is sooo dangerous in at least two ways. Anything that goes behind the plug like that has a potential (pun intended) to blow the user out of the water. I suspect that it violates the safety regulations of many jurisdictions. Playing with 240 (120) V like that is just asking for a quick and painful injury – if not death.

Firstly any moisture or soiling of the device can create a path for the current and a breakdown in the plastic will create a potential for fire or electrocution.

Secondly heavy plug packs will not be fully inserted and as such they may not have the full force of the contacts to enable them to be properly secured within the socket. Recently an electronics store burnt to the ground (literally) because a plug pack worked its way out of a socket and the contact resistance resulted in a fire which quickly escalated into an inferno.

Personally I would strongly discourage the use of such a device.

I think you should make cheaper knockoffs of the Driinn. You can call them JorDriinns. I’ll take the first three-pack for $10!

That’s such a cool, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that invention. I want a dozen! $10 each seems a bit much, though–$10 for a two or three-pack would be the sweet spot, I think. Might make a fun DIY project…
