Charge that USB DAP or handheld on a plane with Inflight
I’m already prepping my airline tickets to next year’s CES, so the timing of the Inflight charging products is perfect. There are three models to choose from, ranging in price between $35 and $49, each designed for a specific device of family of devices. While flying, you can use one of these to charge your iPod or your cell phone / handheld if it can be charged with a mini-USB tip. If your device charges with a standard USB cable, the $35 unit will accommodate it nicely as well. The Inflight chargers draw power from the airline audio jack so I’m not sure how well-received these will be to the airlines, but I’m sure you can just pass it off as a new-fangled set of personal headphones. ;)

Kevin, this seems like a one trick pony that only works on an airplane?
I carry one of the $15 AA vampire chargers for emergencies which works anywhere and you can buy more AA’s anywhere as you need them.
They also work with rechargeable AA’s if you want to be a bit more green.
Or am I missing some incredible feature?
No ‘magic feature’ Scotty. Simply an option for folks that want one. Some folks might travel often on planes and not want to buy batteries for a different type of charger….
That article starts with “You’re right in the middle of a great movie and your laptop dies.” Does anyone seriously believe that this thing can come even close to charging/powering a laptop?
I wonder how long you have to fly just to recharge an empty iPod.
Maybe if you’re lucky and one of the channels plays AC/DC non-stop…
