I agree and have said from the beginning (losing track but well over a year ago) what others are saying. Build this concept into a netbook (I said umpc in past) that allows instant on and you have a goldmine if they can keep the price down near today’s netbook prices. A software option would be a nice alternative.

I’ve played with the older version and I can say that it sounds like the RedFly C8N covers all the major issues I saw. But as a stand-alone product, I would expect this to be closer to the $100 mark given the price of a netbook in the market. Love the idea, I understand they need to make profits but it just seems way out priced (kind of like the OQO devices).

I have no interest in owning a device like the Redfly, but I would pay for the software. It would completely kill the need to add a tethering plan to a smartphone. On the road, I can easily get by with Skyfire and Opera Mini.

I keep thinking that this would be a great idea for apple. Instead of the iTablet that everyone wants, how about just a big touch screen that wireless connects and displays your iphone screen.

I got a C8N about 2 weeks ago, and I love it. The media cable works great with my HTC Touch Pro, since it has TV out. I also like the new black color instead of the old red.

I have original C8 and it matches the specs you list as “beefed up” from the original. I think you may be comparing the C8N to the C7 which was announced around the same time as the C8N. I think the only difference is the media port on the C8N to play video from your iPod and other devices.

Last we heard (http://jkontherun.com/2009/01/06/celio-plans-android-support-dock-and-netbooknotebook-software/), the PC Software was tentatively planned for March and pricing was TBD. I’ll circle back and see what’s new on this front since it *is* March! :)

At CES in Jan, Celio showed of their system running on a laptop (essentially the software version of the redfly, running on a pc).
Any word from them on this offering? I think that combined with a netbook would be a winner for me!

I have been looking at these for various city function, ie police, fire, building, and even some administration functions. I do have a question right off the bat and if you could include some information on how the screen does in various environments; indoor, outdoor and night viewing. I have been looking for decent reviews of this device online and have yet to actually find a decent review on it.

Seems better with the lower price, I might try this thing if I had a windows mobile phone.
