Buy RingtoneStudio for iPhone– $10 Goes to OLPC
We don’t usually push product promotions, but this one has a worthy cause. The folks at Pocketmac, producers of RingtoneStudio for iPhone, will donate $10 to the OLPC program for every copy of the program they sell from Aug. 1 to Sept. 31.
RingtoneStudio is a full-featured ringtone generator that avoids the Apple fee charged for creating ringtones in iTunes. It is $29.95, but $10 of that goes to the One Laptop Per Child program that supplies laptops for third-world countries. The $10 donation is made in the purchaser’s name, so credit is given where credit is due.

Nice that they donate to charity, but $30 is a bit steep for such an app. I’ve used http://audiko.net/ for the two ringtones I’ve ever converted for my 3GS, nice site that does it software-free in the browser. Bit unstable (sometimes have to reload the site and try again because the flash-thingy hangs) but works.
Agreed. One could make the $10 donation themselves and probably save money if they do not need to make many ringtones. Might be a good deal (and worthy cause, indeed!) if one desires a ton of ringtones.
Thanks for such a great article about our promo with the OLPC! We really wanna get the word out there and help raise money for such a great cause!
