Battery extenders from Batterygeek
Road warriors are always concerned about remaining battery life when out and about. Sure, you can always carry a second battery for your laptop, Tablet PC or UPC but there is another option for extended trips that provides 4 – 10 hours of additional battery life for your computer. A company from my home state of Texas, Batterygeek, offers an entire product line of high capacity external batteries that can be charged separately from your device through an included power adapter. The batteries plug directly into the AC jack on your computer through an assortment of tips that are included that fit many brands of laptops. The external battery can be carried for use in emergencies and are small and highly portable. There are several capacities and amperages available depending on how much power you want and the requirements of your device. The batteries are in the $150 range and Batterygeek ships to many countries. You can determine if a particular batter will work in your device through a form on their site. Yes, there is a model that fits the Sony U series.

Now, if can find one that’s smaller and not as thick as the U50′s 6.6″ x 4.3″ x 1.04″.
The batteries listed here that are meant for notebooks all appear to be bigger than the U50.
This appears to be a better solution, size-wise, than my Electrovaya that I had for my Fujitsu. Sony and Fujitsu have the same round, yellow power tip on some models.
Just be careful about their customer service. There isn’t any.

As part of our ongoing dedication to our customers satisfaction we have recently hired a great guy named Jimmie who is our new and highly valued client support specialist from Texas. I personally guarantee your complete satisfaction with any of our products and services or your money back period. If any of our customers are not happy with something then they can simply email us at sales[at]batterygeek[dot]net or as a last resort send an e-mail to me directly at sean[at]batterygeek[dot]net for the fastest possible resolution. Please note that Mr. Harrison was offered a full money back guarantee a long time ago even long after his 30 days return policy expired however he chose to keep his batterygeek battery pack. Regarding Mr. Harrison, Battery Geek is still happy to talk with him as a customer.

Sean,
Your reply is a joke. just like the comment from dragoneye, I found your customer service to be non-existant. I ordered a PowerPack 130 on 9-30, it was delivered non-functional, but that was just the start of my problems. After many emails and phone calls for over 2 weeks, you finally agreed to replace the unit. It is now 11-27, and I still have no replacement. For anyone reading this thread, DON’T BUY ANYTHING from Batterygeek… if it does not work you are screwed.
Hi Bob,
I did some research for you and found out that your UPS tracking # for your replacement battery pack is 1Z005R470293749097. How come you never called or e-mailed us recently to ask us for an update? Just curious. In the future if you have any questions or concerns, you can just can simply call us toll free at 1-800-287-1663 or email us at sales[at]batterygeek[dot]net or as a last resort send an e-mail to me directly at sean[at]batterygeek[dot]net for the fastest possible resolution.
Happy Holidays,
Sean

Research? The tracking information for that package shows that the research you did involved ACTUALLY SENDING THE PACKAGE!
How many times do your customers have to nudge you to get you to do your job?

Do not buy anything from Batterygeek?
I bought a battery from their site last week, I got great customer service and the best dvd battery for my child’s DVD player.
They have the coolest products, how could anyone not want to buy from them? I had a hard time finding a battery for my ipod so I bought both and got a great deal. Right now they are giving free shipping to those military people (me) and they help charities which makes them very caring people. All their products are warranted too so, I never felt insecure about buying from them. They are so nice amd helpful. I think some of you guys are just being too hard on them considering they must have a lot of customers to worry about, I mean I can’t even get my sprint customer service rep to call me back for a week. Some people you can never please and try to hurt others reputations. Remember what it says in the bible ” do not throw stones at your neightbors” tis a sin. Love one another, solve problems without getting ugly.
Dear Sean,
Happy holidays and thanks to you and Melissa for sending the BG 15-21-130–fabulous run time with acer aspire–and same day overnight shipping I appreciate. By the way, I placed an order with your customer service rep, Jimmy, patient, knowledgeable and I was more than pleased with the arrival of my 100+ hr.ipod battery pack.
