BarCamp Houston- Teleread is in da house
We reference posts about ebooks a lot on jkOTR and one of the sites we point to from time to time is Teleread. One of the best parts of attending conferences like this is discovering that a site you follow is based locally. I just met Robert Nagle, one of the brains behind Teleread. He’s a nice guy and knows more about the ebook scene than just about anyone and since it’s a topic near and dear to me it’s been great meeting Robert.
I brought several mobile devices with me, the Fujitsu P1610, OQO Model 02 and the HTC Advantage. Most popular device by far to this point- the Advantage. Word has spread throughout the conference that I am the guy with the "cool toys". I’m having fun, can you tell?

I can’t believe you don’t just LOVE the OQO 02… this is the best computer ever… it’s always with you … your info is always with you!
I have been following your blog for a long time… Does your wife brake your chops as much as mine does with these devices?
The OQO is definitely cool and I like it fine. It’s not what is getting everyone here excited, though.
Looking over JK’s shoulder as he was browsing the web looking for the reviews of the restaurant we were eating at (during the BarCampHouston lunchtime) convinced me that the HTC Advantage is worthy of everyone’s geek lust. The touch screen was very responsive which is to be expected with this maching… but the natural way the thing “set up” in the proper “L shape” viewing mode as the screen was “popped” (attached) to the keyboard (via magnetics?) made it seem like the designers knew what they were doing.
Walt, it was great meeting you yesterday and having lunch with you.
