Bandai and Realeyes3D partner for “Super Digitizer” phone apps
Hey, didn’t Bandai used to make handheld video games similar to the ol’ Mattel Electronics ones? I don’t know, maybe it’s a different Bandai that is partnering with Realeyes3D for "Super Digitizer" apps. The fact remains that 60% of Japanese mobile phone owners use their handheld as personal memo-taking devices. I know it’s a fact because Goo Research said so and with a name like Goo, how can you goo go wrong?
Each app offers more use for that camera in your mobile phone:
- SD Document Capture snaps the text or info on a whiteboard, paper or other written surface. The image is then converted into a legible scan. Similar to Qipit or Scanr, but I don’t see any mention of OCR.
- SD Handwritten Messaging snaps of pic of your chicken scratch and shoots it off to a friends phone. Of course, if you’re writing is really bad, I suppose you could send it to former friends just to get on their nerves.
- SD Stamp Maker doesn’t make postage stamps from your images (now that would be cool!) but does create image files of your pics for icons and such.
- SD Pop Art is a great way to make your bad photos look even worse by adding effects and such. Actually, this could be fun in a non-productive sort of way.

Hi,
Besides scanr, qipit (realeyes3d), there is always an app that you can download and install on your desktop.
All the processing is done on your desktop so there is no need to send personal info for anyone else to see. It works with every digital camera or mobile phone. Please give it a try. (it’s now version 2).

Bandai’s more recent claim to fame in Tamagotchi.
Thanks for the post! You captured the spirit of the announcement quite well. ;-)
Two quick comments:
Bandai Netwroks is a sister company of the Bandai you knew — both are subsidiaries of Namco Bandai Holdings (a clear view on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_Bandai).
Besides the corporate structure, Bandai Networks is the largest mobile content provider in Japan. They have embedded, preloaded and downloadable apps for about any handset you can find in Japan. They also are the largest operator of mobile sites on behalf of DoCoMo and the others.
Also, you can get a glimpse of SD PopArt by adding the ‘Qipit PimpArt” facebook application to your facebook profile. This facebook version runs on our servers, but the magic is similar to that which powers SD popArt on the handsets in Japan.
And yes, it is pointless, non-productive, but so much fun!
