Asus updates to the R2E UMPC
The Asus R2H UMPC has always been one of the most full-featured UMPCs out their even though its horsepower wasn’t that great. It was one of the first UMPCs with integrated GPS and the innovative design has always been a hit. Asus announced the refresh of the R2H with its release of the R2E which adds 3G (HSDPA) in addition to dropping the Celeron processor in favor of Intel’s A110 processor. GPS is still an integrated option and there’s a new 80 GB hard drive. The design of the R2E looks much like the older version so that hasn’t changed much, but why mess with what works. It looks like the R2E will still have a 1 GB of memory maximum so here’s hoping Vista will run well on it.

IIRC, the original R2H has 256 MB of memory on board in addition to the SODIMM RAM slot. I think you can boost it to 2.25 GB but the BIOS will only recognize 2 GB. Nice to see HSDPA inside for some folks!
Very nice. Hopefully this will push other companies to include internal WWAN.
Some one know the model that performs best?
R2H, R2Hv or the new one R2E ?
wath about battery time on them ?
