ASUS Getting Into e-Book Reader Business
The company responsible for the whole netbook thing is getting ready to produce an e-book reader. This shows just how hot the e-book game is getting. ASUS’ e-book reader could appear as early as the end of this year but should be here by next year for sure, ASUS President Jerry Shen told DigiTimes.
The cost of producing an e-book reader is low compared to other consumer electronics and this might be playing a role for ASUS. I guess it will be called the Eee-book Reader. You think?

This is good news. Hopefully they will have one with good pdf support, no wireless connection and a screen larger than 6″ while preserving exceptional battery life of a typical ebook reader. Already have on sony prs 505 and very happy with it. If it was larger and had some sort of annotation support, would be happier.
I love the idea of ebook readers because of epaper and extreme battery life. And as long as it is not coupled/limited with online services any brand would be welcome.
It was a good choice I gave up on waiting for T91 and went for prs505 as I was only intending to use it for my document library.
I vote for Eeee-Reader. You always need more EEEEEs.
I say they go the full-monty and call it the Eee Reeeder. ;)
eh, I mean, eeeh, surely that would be Eeee-Reedeer.
With Pivot software any laptop, I believe any notebook or netbook can be turned into an eBook Since the article mentioned Sony, I take it that, maybe, this would work on any laptop or nettop.
Booksonboard.com publishes most books in 4 or 5 digital formats. Recently, Sony and others are working to adopt a common digital format hoping to, I guess, not repeating the VHS/Beta mishmash we all went through years ago with video tape.
