I did have a hard time finding a simple case for it as I like to put in a sleeve and then put it in my bookbag, purse, locker, whatever. However, found a small company that makes a pretty good sleeve for this unit and sells them for only $11.95 with free freight at http://www.nuvo-tek.com.

By the same token, if anyone knows of where I can buy a good hard case (not a soft onw) that is not too expensive, please let me know.

The 11.6 inch size is actually a little too big for me. I use a 1001HE and am about to pick up a 1005HA for my wife. For me portability is key but at the ~12″ size, I don’t think there’s a better deal.

In my defense, the press release mentioned LED only for the 11.6, not the 10.1. Of course, press releases don’t always mention everything.

I also find it peculiar that the device is comparatively thicker than the 1008H seashell model. I would’ve thought that a larger footprint would allow them to keep it really skinny. As it stands now it looks pretty chubby and mediocre.

Now I’m looking for a portable computer (read: small, light) with a high resolution screen. This 1366×768 screen would do, but I’m more worried about supporting the software that I want to run, particularly a mainstream Linux. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a 9″ screen; my eyes are sharp enough to handle tiny text, but devices that are small, light, and have high resolution screens are still pretty expensive.
