The difference in TPD difference between the N270 and Z520 may only be .5 watts, however the TPD difference between their respective chipsets is much greater. Something along the lines of 2-4 watts (in the Z520′s favor) I believe.

I think the next most interesting netbook would be MSI Wind12 U200, not 1101HA. I’m really curious how it will compete performance-wise.

Kevin, I just got my 1101HA. It is slower than a N280 based netbook but the day-long battery and high resolution screen are making a huge difference for me (basically the difference between using or not using a device).
Sorry for you, but the right shift key has gone back to small size ?? despite the keyboard is really comfortable for long typing sessions.

I also had the chance to pickup the Acer Aspire One; the 11.6″ that pretty much has the same as the Asus at Costco for $349.99. It has the Z processor and 2GB, 250GB hard drive, and Vista Basic. I think in my opinion, its a nice size but for me I need to travel and the Toshiba NB205 was perfect and has great battery life. I’m getting close to the 9 hrs with everything on. I also have other devices that have the 1.33Ghz chip and I can say the N270 and 280 are much faster and now that I have the NB205 I’m glad I got this one instead. Also the 11.6″ size is bigger and pretty much not to portable for me. This is just for what I need, not that the size is big.

Kevin see if they would send you the 11.6″ one instead. This way can compare to your NB205.

I would rather a few hour hit in battery life to have a N280.

The Z-series processors also give you a pretty big hit, as far as performance is concerned. By all accounts, netbooks with these processors are noticeably sluggish compared to their N series counterparts.

If this thing had an N280 in it, I’d be all over it. With that Z series processor, it’s dead to me.

Very true — the power usage difference isn’t vast, so you’re probably looking at maybe a 10% boost at best. Still, any benefit in that area is a welcome one, no matter how small. ;)

Don’t forget that the Z-series uses the more efficient US15W chipset as well. It’s not all in the CPU…

The difference between the N280 and Z520 is only 0,5W, I dont get how it can make that much difference. If you run it for 10 hours, the difference in battery capacity is only 5Wh
