JonGH: the router does work with the XBox 360 for internet access, i.e.: Xbox Live. However, the 360 can’t see any of the devices hanging off of the router, so I don’t natively have access to any of the music stored on that external drive.

Hilli, I don’t think I can remotely access the drives on the router without having at least one of my home computers on.

ya, i wonder how many devices it could support, it would be cool to just hang a bunch of external HDD’s (although they would always be on). but i doubt it’s smart enough to allow access via the internet.

very interesting read. Will this new network work with an XBox 360? I really like the idea of having my external drives available whilst my main PC switched off. I could either work with just the laptop on or access media through the TV and XBox. Also are these drives now available to you online? I can imagine this being a very useful soultion for someone like yourself who does a lot of travelling.

Neil, the Drobo would definitely be a nice addition to the home office, but at $500 and no disk space to start, that’s a tough bill to pay. Still, I could crack open an older media center PC and the Seagate for the starting storage. The drives in those units are likely 3.5-inch…hmmmm……
