Amazon recently gave me the opportunity to receive text message notifications related to an item I'd purchased. I received no SMS message, when the item shipped. I did, however, receive an SMS when the item was delivered. Trouble is, that delivery SMS was sent a day after the delivery. Shipping this time was USPS; my suspicions are that the delay in sending the SMS was on the shipper's end, not necessarily on Amazon's.

Anyway, I suppose any notice is better than no notice. I enter the house, through the garage. I might have missed the box, sitting at the front door, without the SMS delivery confirmation.

Delivery confirmation might be most useful, for items you puchase and have shipped directly to someone else.
