I'd love to hand Amazon cash for Kindle on my cell phone, simply because it has the broadest selection available. Unfortunately, I have a Windows-mobile based Treo Pro. Hopefully, a release is in the pipeline. If you know there is, I imagine you can't say definitively because of an NDA. But any hints? I think WinMo would be a great platform; it may not be as sexy as the Iphone, but we actually pay significant amounts of money for software.

Another thing that bugs me about Amazon: I'm sure Opera on the Touch Pro could do an excellent job of handling the IPhone-specific Amazon interface, just as well as the IPhone-specific Kindle store. But without jumping through hoops that I haven't and probably can't figure out, I can't. Any suggestions or experience in this area?

I'd cut apple out too. why bother paying apple a huge 30% when you've already got everything in place on your website? furthermore, it's probably a bit more secure, or easy to maintain security, by keeping all their transactions centralized to a single web-app to oversee, instead of a bunch of disparate phone apps (if they make software for other mobile OSes).

So does that mean if I buy something using the Amazon iPhone app (not their mobile website), Apple is going to claim 30% of the revenue?

I don't think that's really how this works. But maybe I am missing something...
