Turnoff headset and device(mobile phone) with its already paired.
then click Setup Bluetooth device on mac
turn headset on.
9xxbackbeat should appear now. pair it please.
go preferences-> sound-> to change Audio input and output from internal to Headset.
enjoy.
*its not great in connection wise as its slowdown mac’s speed.

Wondering, has anyone cleared the air regarding pairing with a MacBook Pro or perhaps a Mac Mini? I have these headphones however I cannot get my mini to even find them. Perhaps I'm missing something but I cannot find the address on the actual headphones or in the packaging. Thanks for any response.

I have them charging from my cable attached to the computer and it is seemless. I used the cable for my Kindle, which I believe is a standard micro usb cable

You cant plug them into a computer to charge. They come with a micro-usb charger. Ive walked around my apartment with them on and had no dropouts so you should be fine cycling.

So what happens when you plug them into a PC? Do they charge like I’d hope, or did Altec just borrow into the ubiquitous mini-USB connector and (annoyingly) still need their charger?

…And what is the story on the actual range. I want to stick my iPhone under my bike seat when I ride. Is there any hope for getting the signal that far away?

Yes the mute and skip track functions didn’t work on my 3G but that didn’t bother me too much. Funnily enough the Altec vp of marketing just contacted me about it on Twitter after I posted about. . He’s @altec_Bernice. Hopefully he can help me sort it out.

I just bought them and have them connected to my iPhone 3GS. The quality is very nice but I can not mute or skip forward and back. It would also be nice to connect them to my MacBook Pro.

I now have a problem – I recently got the iPhone 3GS – only to discover that these headphones are not even recognised as a Bluetooth device! I’ve tried 2 3GS phones, and neither can detect the headset. What’s the deal? Worked fine in the 3G, even play and pause, and all call functionality. Very frustrating!

I used the BackBeats with my Pre for two different conference calls today without a problem. One thing I’ve noticed: the Pre says it’s connected to the headphones over Bluetooth, but it’s not until I tap the left earpiece button (and hear a beep) that it works when placing a call. Receiving a call is no problem.
