I tried my OWC 4gb kit before Snow Leopard with the same problem. Installed it after and now any time I close the lid with any iwork or iweb apps open, when I open the lid they immediately crash? Any thoughts or solutions?

I installed the 2x2 GB Kit from OWC just now. It seems a lot faster. Worth the price (which for me was about $130 because of shipping etc.)

That wasn't the price for a 4GB RAM upgrade a year ago, so it's sort of a moot argument in terms of pricing. In the original Apple discussion forums last December, the 3rd party kits were around $135, so I don't think Apple was selling it for less -- otherwise, why would people opt for the third party solutions? ;)

Having said that, yes, AppleCare coverage and Apple RAM might have come in handy for James. Since I didn't need to upgrade until now, I really didn't need AppleCare... knock on wood! :)

I elected to purchase OEM memory when I bought my unibody MacBook since I had heard of problems with third-party memory. It seems like the later model MacBooks were less tolerant of third-party memory, but glad to hear that Snow Leopard seems to have solved the issue.

I also was concerned about the various reports of problems, but also went ahead with OWC (since they seem pretty good about dealing with problems) and put 4G in my Macbook Al too. No problems so far.
