Web Worker Daily is Hiring!

As of March 29, 2008 we are no longer looking for additional regular contributors. However, feel free to continue sharing articles with us through Google Docs with us and we will consider you for future opportunities and/or guest posts. Thanks!

Have you been reading our little blog and been thinking, “Oh come on, I could do that!” Now here’s your chance.

We’re looking to add a few more writers to our team. We’re looking for folks who can commit to write 2 posts (on average) a week. Sometimes you’ll be assigned a topic or product to write about based on what we know you’re interested in and what’s hot at the moment. Other times you’ll be expected to generated your own ideas and manage your own time.

The focus of this blog is working in the new digital age. That can mean anything from mobile devices, web applications, lifestyle adjustments, business relationships, freelancing, etc. It’s not just work-from-home folks. It’s not just the self-employed. And it’s not just web developers.

You’ll be paid per post on a monthly basis and will be expected to e-sign an agreement with Giga Omni Media, our parent company.

Interested? Read on to find out how to apply…

  1. Write a sample post of 300-600 words telling us your web working story. Maybe it’s how you switched to a web working lifestyle fulltime. Maybe it’s some insight into how you use your favorite web app. Maybe it’s something about your career ambitions that would be interesting and relevant to your fellow web worker. Regardless of whether or not we offer you a regular gig, we’ll consider all entries for guest posts and you will be compensated in the form of an Amazon gift certificate if that happens.
  2. Put the post in a Google Doc and share with judi(at)gigaom.com. Please do not email your submission to me directly or send as an attachment. Frankly, if you don’t have a Gmail or Google Apps account you probably wouldn’t last long on this blog anyway.
  3. Put your name as the title of the document. At the top of the post, be sure to include your contact information (email and phone is enough). If you’ve written for other sites, including a personal blog, be sure to mention it with URLs.
  4. At the bottom of your sample post, list 3-5 topic ideas that you’d like to write about for WWD. If a title isn’t enough to give me an idea of your “beat,” then you can be a little more descriptive but you don’t have to go into a lot of detail. We just want to see how you’d best contribute to the site on an ongoing basis.

Good luck, and I’m looking forward to working with you!
