Something I’d like to add would regard social medias as the virtual equivalent of physical networking. Spending some time building up a network on Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon and other social media sites will help both with self-promotion and with your job search as it will show you know how to use these instruments and may lead to uncovering some ‘hidden’ job postings.

I am looking into working online part-time to supplement my 9-5 job, but having been out of an office environment for nearly 2 years I am finding myself having to do a fair bit of catching up when it comes to technology.

It’s a fun an exciting time for me though, and reading blogs like this helps me understand what I need to top-up on as such.

But the most exciting thing is that there seems to be a lot more opportunities on the net these days, even compared to a few years back.
