This looks interesting but it seems that you would also need to set up on each site your bio and lots of information ahead of time. Is that correct? I like ping.fm, but there are 2 issues that I cannot figure out, one of which you mention (the filtering), the other of which is how to set up triggers such that with trigger A you ping FB and twitter, trigger B you ping a FB fan page and digg, for example.

Just joined ping.fm recently. It is a pain trying to make sure you don’t get duplicate posts! But once you get that down I think it will make things much easier.

I been using Ping.FM for almost a month now and it is great service. But did notice i had duplicate tweets or blog posts. But I think it’s more of crossing the RSS feeds between the several accounts.

Is there another service similar to Ping.FM?

Great post Eric! I wish there was more written about aggregators like ping.fm. I find sometimes it gets very clunky to avoid overlapping of messages and services. Just when I think I have it worked out, I get an overlap.

Hint ;-) I would LOVE it if someone would do a blog post about a “map” for ping.fm for the typical web worker who has a blog, twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Friend Feed account…
