Take $50K and Quit Your Job
At least, that’s the premise of the Just Start! contest being run by Intuit at the moment. They’re taking entries (written or video) from now until mid-December, at which point one winner will get $40,000 in cash and $10,000 in consulting services, and two runners-up will get $5,000 each. To enter, you just need to explain what you’re dreaming of doing and how you intend to tell your boss that you’re resigning.
While you’re there, you can pick up some free resources for the budding entrepreneur, including the free (Windows-only) QuickBooks Simple Start 2008, which is a somewhat stripped-down version of QuickBooks Pro. To be fair, you can also grab this straight from Intuit’s main site, but if you did that, you’d miss your chance to daydream publicly about how best to tell your boss to take your job and dispose of it – as well as your chance at all that nice money.

$50,000 is a lot of money, but not quite enough to quit your job over.
$50,000 to quit a job? Oh, I don’t think so. a lump sum of twice that still wouldn’t be enough and $50,000 a year is far less what I’m making now. Not everyone is living hand-to-mouth, y’know.
