Really strange - this extension is no longer available from mozilla, and there is NOTHING on their plugins site that does this either! I am a new FF user, I used site searches all the time when I had IE and the Google toolbar, and would have expected this functionality to be built in to the FF search bar.

Unless this extension is available elsewhere (if so, please tell me!), I have found an alternative that adds 'search current site' as a selectable search engine: http://w-shadow.com/blog/2007/12/01/search-the-current-site-a-firefox-extension/

It doesn't install by default on FF 3.5.x, but if you download the extension, rename it to a zip file, then edit install.rdf and change 3.0.* to 3.5.* and re-zip/rename it, it will install and work fine.

I use several extensions, chief among them:

1. Scrapbook - which scrapes pages and keeps them locally. Very useful when I want to quickly check on my personal information store

2. XMarks (was Foxmarks): I used to use Google for syncing bookmarks but now use XMarks to sync my bookmarks which are very critical to me between all my devices & PCs.

3. Feedly! - I love it - it allows me to share through FriendFeed OR GoogleReader

4. Shareholic (useful to Twit or FF items)

5. Delicious
