I am currently going back and forth between Freshbooks and Cashboard. They are both so close to perfect for me! I just have 1 issue with each…

Freshbooks: No link between Estimates and Active Projects. When a client approves an estimate, you have to recreate the whole thing as a project!

Cashboard: No capability to track / bill for expenses.

Both companies say that these features are highly requested and coming soon, but not sure when.

Any thoughts?

I have been using http://www.Net2Invoice.com for past year or so. I love the way they have simplified invoicing. It is dirt cheap and allow you to manage contracts as well as estimates. You can send invoices through fax, email and postal mail. They have support available 24 hours a day.

Be sure to check out Invoices Made Easy too (http://www.InvoicesMadeEasy.com). At $5/month it’s one of the least expensive options out there. It also offers Easy Mail (snail mail) service.

I have been using freshbooks for quite sometime now and found the product really good. But it did lack some features like inventory management, though the overall usability of the application is good. Also, while looking for an alternative I stumbled upon http://www.invoicera.com/. Found it to be in beta testing phase but the features were somewhat similar to that of freshbooks. Worth checking though. The blog was quite informative as well.
