Great post Georgina! More and more I see that ‘Personal branding’ is getting a bad brand image itself. This is because the term sounds too aggressive I guess. Self-knowledge and Self-awareness are the base of every successful personal brand. Passion and fun are some other very important variables.

Ahhh, the bugs of WordPress! Anywhoo, I just wanted to say that people have done worse to get to where they need to be:

Entertainers are in a different world than web designers. They have to manipulate their brand to showcase to their audience to keep the attention going.

Only ultra-talented entertainers in their respective occupations ( Chappelle, Daniel Day Lewis ) can go without any attention and still be very credible to their audience. Others go the other route of stirring controversy to control their brand.

I think self-awareness meshes into your personal brand. Following your heart is your brand strategy. Your personality traits, work ethic, views, beliefs, etc. all formulate into your brand.
