You're wrong, odesk now has hilarious hourly rates (as low as $1-2 per hour) which is clearly, clearly opportunistic. A lot of people in 3rd world countries would accept but its unfair because that amount is even below standard in these 3rd world countries.

does odesk get paid for your work? yes they do, it the responsibility of the website to remove them

the problem is I was never making excuses susanne bullo, the problem is fair trade, I am not going to continue paying some company to help impoverish a country like haiti,

hope haiti finally taught you something valuable susanne, that I was right all along that they can not live that way in that country

what is actually disgusting is allowing those postings to continue, did you know haiti was barely surviving on two dollars a day and eating dirt sandwiches?

that is what odesk allows is people to try to survive on that income, and anyone working for odesk and lining those pockets are not teaching them any sort of lesson,

it is a market alright, a black one

keep in mind the people of haiti next time you see a one or two dollar posting

it is their responsibility to remove the ads, and warn the buyers and providers not to do it anymore, the cheesy lame excuse that it is standard of living is not right, the standard of living they mean is POVERTY

I’d agree with Dawn. The idea that you have to “work your way up” at $1-2/hour before you can be paid a reasonable wage is ridiculous. Whether you support globilization or not, the fact is that Odesk relies on undercutting what would be a living wage here in the US.

whatever nut bar, the fact of the matter I have proof they allow postings of 25 cents it is against fair trade laws, keep making lame excuses though

it has nothing to do with the fact of employment, I write and make money then my husband makes thousands a month, I do not even need to work sweetie, I did it to save money in our account, that was all

I have links and proof that they allow these postings to go through

25 cents an hour, I do not know how they sleep at night

As has been stated to you before Dawn, the providers are the problem in as far as 1-2 an hour. Not oDesk. As long as there are those out there willing to be paid that little, it will remain. The simple fact is you weren’t going to get paid what you felt you were worth right off the bat so you complained that oDesk was responsible for keeping people in poverty. I started out at a much lower rate at oDesk and worked my way up. Just like everyone else. You don’t get to start out as the President of the company no matter how much you stomp your foot, Dawn.

no they pay people 1-2 an hour which is disgusting, that is why I left, you have no conscious to continue working for them while the rest of those people make 1-2 an hour it is disgusting

as long as you make your 33 an hour susanne that is all you care about, it has nothing to do with unhappy with their service, I get paid to write now I really do not care, I care about those poor people making less then poverty, as you close your eyes to it so you do not feel guilt over taking money from them

I can tell you without a doubt that the previous comment was made by someone who was not happy with their results. It’s well known that oDesk has providers from all over the world and hourly rates in some countries are not the same as hourly rates in North America. oDesk does not make the hourly rates, the providers do.

Odesk does not believe in fair trade, some of their workers make 1-2 an hour, I bailed out of their because it is wrong, ethically to allow it. then others who do the same type of work can not find employment because of the wolves in sheeps clothing hiring these individuals for 1-2 an hour
