New Bill Includes Small Business Telecommuting Incentive
Senators Kerry and Snow introduced legislation in the Senate yesterday that encourages the inclusion of small businesses in various plans to improve energy efficiency. Among the incentives in the bill was this little gem:
…a telecommuting pilot program at the SBA responsible for educational materials and outreach to small businesses on the benefits of telecommuting…
And while we all know how bills can get waylaid on their way to becoming laws (thank you, School House Rock) it’s nice to see the telecommuting lifestyle come up in environmental legislation. It makes me wonder if businesses that run completely virtually are missing out on some tax breaks because they have already reduced their emissions as much as is humanly possible.

Of course internet causes emission, think of the amount of energy all those servers cause, or the radiation caused by wireless networks….
