Just a small point with AT&T's service: You CAN tether a laptop with some of the SmartPhones, with an optional addition to your data plan. I pay a total of $59.99 to have Smartphone service with tethering.

It also works very well, I've used the tethering with both USB cable and Bluetooth PAN with good results.

AT&T's HSDPA network is mostly 1.8Mbps right now, with 3.6Mbps coverage in some spots. Certainly not the 14.4Mbps the article claims. 7.2Mbps is the speediest HSDPA deployed yet, in South Korea.

Thanks Jason.

Boingo is more than just airports, though, and have a network of more than 100,000 hotspots worldwide, which includes restaurants (McDonald's), cafes, hotels, coffee shops (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Starbucks coming soon). And, with our Boingo Global ($39/month), there are no roaming fees.

Plus with GoBoingo, we give you an easy-to-use application that alerts you to Boingo hotspots, and lets you get online with one click.
