Do you know the Gmail address book editor “Synchronicity”. It’s one of my best evaluating software.
It can backup/restore address book with pictures , and be able to import addressbook from other account,too.
I copied address book from my account to another account which I always use at work.

Does it sync the address book groups properly? Can youchoose to only sync with certain groups?

I don’t understand why this doesn’t work. I don’t have a sync menu in address book either. No way of telling it to “sync now”.

Hmm… I have been working this for hours now and I cannot get contacts to sync with google. Dunno what is wrong here. I have read online that there may be some prerequisites but I cannot seem to figure it out. Anyone else having this issue? I don’t even have a “sync now” option with iSync… Yes, I’ve rebooted. Yes, I’ve closed Contacts. Yes, I’ve tried making changes to Contacts to see if it kicks off the sync. Yes, I’ve tried editing the com.apple.iPod.plist file as many sites have said. Nothing works…

Joe, if you find iSync the app then iSync > Preferences > "Show status in menu bar" to show the two circles chasing each other in the menu bar to the right ( all the icons ). Click it and choose "Sync now".

I think the ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.google.GoogleContactSyncAgent.plist file contains the sync schedule, which by default is 3600seconds (an hour)

I have got it working but it doesn't seem to periodically synchronise itself (unlike iCal which is almost instant). There doesn't seem to be a 'refresh' button either. Any suggestions?

hmm – it worked like a charm (pictures, notes and all!) and then it wanted to remove all the nickname fields in my Address Book – doh!

anyone have a workaround to preserve fields not in Google’s schema?

As for me, I use Syncmate. This tool is absolutely free and syncs Contacts and iCal in my mac with Google (two way sync). I also use it to sync mac with my HTC.

As far as I know, Syncmate also allows syncing mac with other phones, macs or pcs and online. And seems like they’ve released new version recently – PSP sync was added.

I have been able to add information on the Google web interface, and have it be reflected in my Address Book. Make sure that you log out of Google and close Address Book; once you have done so, sync should happen relatively fast.
