We ran an experiment where the entire product team at RescueTime worked from home for a month and got some interesting data about how we spent our time (because, well, our software tells us exactly how we spend our time!).

5 people spent 63 more hours on product development tasks over the month. Subjectively speaking, we all FELT like we were working LESS. In short, it felt like we were doing less, but we were doing more.

Details here: http://blog.rescuetime.com/2009/11/18/does-working-from-home-make-you-more-productive-yes-with-data/

Moving forward, I think we're going have more of a hybrid approach to see if we can get the best of both worlds.
