CK: I'm really sorry to hear about your experiences. You sound like you're coming from a corporate background, which, to me, seems much harder to navigate because the social structures are different and several, more personal, things come into play.

I wrote this article for online freelancers, who are often judged on more straightforward terms (performance instead of presence, output instead of time) and don't have to deal with too much corporate schmoozing. Have you considered online freelancing, even part-time? You sound like you have several ideas worthy of a consulting practice.

How to Get Paid Better in 2009? Get a certification, take a course,
win an award ... HA!

I worded hard to get nowhere! I studied to get TEN certifications! All I got was "What are you going to do with that?!?" Grauated with a Masters Degree (3.85 GPA)! I got harassed, over worked, and then placed in a LOWER position!

I have more certifications then some departments! I am more educated than the managers! Where did it get me? - NOWHERE!!!

Awards! YES! I have those too! Some are nationally recongnised awards! All from an other division I was working with! In the mean while I hear the singing of crickets from my division.

I have been interviewed by a few magazines and the interviews published! Still I hear the choir of crickets

I have shared my ideas on cost-cutting and/or work efficiency only to be shot down each and every time! Now I don't share my ideas but with a select few co-workers/friends. Later my division would come up my idea ... 2 years later!

Upsell - Talked to out "C" level with my ideas, and talents ... several times! ... talking to an empty suit.
