I’ve been looking for a standing desk and this solution will enable me to get that AND a piece of furniture that will blend in and be useful in the kitchen.

I’m 6’8″ and avid runner, but I run into issues with stress fractures due to sitting all day, and consequently, lower bone density. Standing is a simple way to fix it, as I understand it. I’m hoping to be able to build a custom solution for me when we move offices early next year.

I’m curious at how you determine what is a comfortable height though. Particularly, at what positions are your arms and hands? Also, how do you manage perhaps having to go back and forth between papers as well as maybe reading from a text book. Do you per chance use a dual monitor setup?

Basically, I think I’d love to see a followup article, if there isn’t one already (I haven’t looked yet).

few extra tips…
get good shoes for standing up for long hours, heres a few I found from web good for prolonged standing:
Dansko
Crocs
birkenstocks
earth shoes
and good joggers

Also a anti-fatigue mat can be very helpful as well. I’m also experiencing with a wobble board at a low height to move around a bit, a bit like the fit ball for sitting on, makes it funner/healthier.
But I also have the treadmill desk as well :P
