Why do the Spirit’s have wifi antennas all over the place then? I think at least for the hop to Vancouver its very likely… why would you install AP’s (cisco ones don’t come cheap) without intending to do anything with it.

The money’s been spent, now they just need the land based antennas and to offer it.

@monica Indeed. I’ve seen a bunch of your work out here, so you must be busy!

@Andrew My understanding is that the WISP is line of sight. You’re right, of course that it’s not THAT isolated. Mayne is a wonderful, friendly community. I would kill for Ferry wifi (but that’s probably the only way we would have any hope of getting BC Ferries to spend money on it ;-)

Although for the biggest downside of island life – the boats, wifi on the ferries would be the ultimate killer service. No longer killing time on the boats / lineups would be sweet.

On the other hand, the fishing’s great!
